SZL Series Coal fired Chain Grate Boiler

Coal-fired Steam Boiler
Coal-fired steam boiler is an industrial or utility boiler that generates thermal energy by burning pulverized coal (also known as powdered coal or coal dust since it is as fine as face powder in cosmetic makeup) that is blown into the firebox. The basic idea of a firing system using pulverised fuel is to use the whole volume of the furnace for the combustion of solid fuels. Coal is ground to the size of a fine grain, mixed with air and burned in the flue gas flow. Biomass and other materials can also be added to the mixture. Coal contains mineral matter which is converted to ash during combustion. The ash is removed as bottom ash and fly ash. The bottom ash is removed at the furnace bottom.

Biomass Steam Boiler
Biomass steam boiler uses thermal energy from the combustion of biomass fuel and air to produce superheated steam from feed water. Biomass fuel usually has a high moisture content, which leads to low boiler efficiency. The boiler efficiency can be increased by using heat recovery devices to decrease the temperature of flue gas before it is exhausted from the boiler. Three heat recovery devices found in a typical installation of biomass boiler are economizer, air heater, and flue gas dryer. Economizer increases feed water temperature, air heater increases air temperature before combustion, and flue gas dryer decreases the moisture content of fuel. Limited available thermal energy of flue gas means that a decision must made in selecting the sizes of these devices. The main objective of this paper is to use a biomass boiler model, in which the boiler consists of as a furnace and a set of heat exchangers, to determine the optimum sizes of economizer, air heater, and flue gas dryer that minimize the total cost of installing them in biomass boiler system.
