Take steam with zero gauge pressure as an example. The heat energy of one ton of steam produced per hour is obtained by absorbing heat in two steps in the pot. The first step is to heat one ton of feed water at 20 degrees to 100 degrees saturation. The heat energy absorbed by water is usually sensible heat, and its heat energy is 1000×(100-20)=80,000/kcal hour.
The second step is to heat one ton of saturated hot water into saturated steam to absorb the heat energy. This part of the heat is latent heat, and the heat energy is 1000×539=539,000/kcal hour.
Adding sensible heat and latent heat is the heat energy obtained by one ton of steam (when its gauge pressure is zero) in the pot,That is: 53.9+8=619,000/kcal hour. This is what we usually call the heat energy of a ton of evaporation per hour of a steam boiler, which is equivalent to the capacity of a hot water boiler of 600,000/kcal per hour.
